The secret to waking up with energy!
Are you the type of person who always wakes up feeling groggy and like you haven’t slept a wink, no matter if you’ve had 2 or 10 hours sleep?
In today’s article, I am going to share 3 tips that you can implement tonight to finally get you waking up with energy and feeling ready to tackle your day.
See the thing is, you’re focusing on the wrong thing.
Right now, you’re focusing on setting your alarm for 6am and then get frustrated and feel like you’ve failed when it’s 7.30 and you’ve hit snooze for the 10th time! But the thing is your morning is dictated by your evening.
So instead, focus on what you can do the night before that is going to help you get out of bed.
Here are my top 3 tips:
Create your wind-down habit
Something that signals to your brain that it’s time to wind down. It can be as simple as having your favourite (de-caf) tea, reading a chapter of your favourite book or going to take your make-up off and get in some comfies.
Take away the blue light
We all know that having our phone attached to our hand and scrolling endlessly isn’t going to help our sleep. But did you know that reading a digital book can suppress melatonin (your sleep hormone) release by over 50%, compared to a paper book? So it’s no surprise that you’re struggling to get good quality sleep if you’re scrolling for hours on end before bed.
Get up for you
How easy is it to get up at 3am when you’ve for a flight to catch for the holiday you’ve waited for ages for?
But getting up at 6am on a typical day…
SO.MUCH.HARDER!
So, what we can learn from this is that having something to look forward to first thing is going to give you that boost of motivation to get up in the morning.
For me, it’s making my coffee and heading out on a 10-minute walk or catching up on the latest episode of my favourite series.
So if you want to become a morning person and get better quality sleep then it's time to start focusing on your evening.
